Excellent
I have been a patient of Dr. Sheng for over ten years. I first saw her for chronic pain. She alleviated my pain completely in a few visits and I only need treatment for it occasionally now. I next saw Dr. Sheng for gastritis that was not responding to prescription medication. She used acupuncture and gave me some herbal preparations. My stomach improved within a few weeks. I also have recurring sleep problems and Dr. Sheng has helped me with those. Dr. Sheng is very professional and empathetic. The needles do not hurt and the experience is very relaxing. I highly recommend Dr. Sheng.

Excellent
The restrooms at this office were spotless. It smelled amazing in there and looked immaculate. I appreciated that they were still concerned about my health even after I left the office. They followed up with me after my appointment and everything. As soon as I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They went out of their way to make me feel special and appreciated. I was completely at ease during my appointment here. They went to great lengths to make sure I was completely relaxed and comfortable the entire time. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better.

Excellent
I couldn't agree more with the previous comments. Dr. Sheng is the BEST! When I went for my first appointment, Dr. Sheng patiently explained what she was going to do and assured me the needles would not hurt. She was right: there was no pain, and after the first appointment, my elbow looked and felt so much better. One more visit, and my elbow was as good as new! Since then, she has treated my migraines-now, they are a thing of the past. No one else was able to rid me of that awful pain. She's wonderful: she can easily put someone at ease, has a delightful sense of humor, and is definitely a knowledgeable, caring practitioner.

Excellent
Dr. Zu Fang Sheng is a national resource, a gifted herbalist and acupuncturist. When I had a health crisis, within two hours I had an appointment and was being treated by Dr. Sheng for migraine headache, sinusitis, an extremely raw stomach, difficulty breathing, and immobilizing weakness. She applied acupuncture, heat and medicinal strips to various areas of my body, In the interim, she prepared a herbal powder and instructed me to take it twice a day. In 2-3 days, I felt like a new person ! My gratitude to Dr. Sheng know no bounds . She was able to take my extreme discomfort and help me feel tremendous relief. Dr. Sheng is a true national resource and we are so fortunate to have her in Broomall, PA.

Excellent
They are completely committed to helping me as long as it takes to find the best solution. I never have to worry that they'll back out or give up if a solution isn't reached immediately, which has been a problem for me at other places. I didn't wait long at all. My appointment started on time, and the wait was much shorter than other offices I have been to. It was very easy to get an appointment. They have a very flexible schedule and get me in quickly every time. When I arrived for my appointment the friendly staff seemed to be waiting for me. I've been to other places where I had to wait forever after I arrived for my appointment, but not here. I was very impressed. They were by far one of the best I've ever seen in their field. It was obvious that they've been exceeding their clients' expectations for many years.

Very Good
They paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future.

Excellent
I love Dr. Sheng! She completely cured my pain from three awful herniated discs. Other docs wanted to operate but within three acupuncture treatments I was feeling 99% better. Now I am 100% thanks to her. Dr. Sheng is also a medical doctor and is intelligent, caring and compassionate. She is a wonderful healer. She treats all kinds of ailments and her patients think she wears a halo, she is an angel.

Quality Excellent
I went to Dr Sheng on the recommendation of a friend after all the steroids and anti-viral pills were gone, and had done nothing to alleviate the Bell's Palsy. I did not have any previous experience with acupuncture so I was very surprised to see slight improvement after my first visit, and then BIG improvement after only the second visit. Dr. Sheng was friendly and quick; and she was completely in control of my treatment, by which I mean that she knew exactly how to chase down a complicated neurological ailment and fix it. It was such a relief, and I am now a believer in Eastern medicine. I would return to Dr. Sheng again and again. Also, the needles really don't hurt, either.

Overall Excellent
I have had great results from Dr. Sheng's treatments. I had a chronic pain condition which she alleviated in the first month. She was so helpful that I also had her treat a cardiac/neurological problem--her treatments worked so much better than the prescription medicines I was given and no side effects. Dr. Sheng was educated and worked as a physician in China and has done post-doctoral work at Penn, so she fully understands all areas of medicine. Also, her prices are very reasonable. I have referred 6 friends and they also had stellar results. And the needles don't hurt!

Excellent resource for alternative medicine/accupuncture
I visited Dr. Sheng 8 years ago to assist with quitting smoking. I had been a regular smoker for 15 years and had attempted to quit multiple ways and times. I haven't smoked since nor do I have the desire to smoke. I highly recommend Dr. Sheng.

Excellent
I can't believe how much better I feel!I am so delighted with the results I have gotten from Dr. Sheng. My chronic pain is virtually gone and I have more energy than I have had in years. Dr. Sheng has a great background--she was a licensed physician in China and learned acupuncture there. I have referred family and friends and they have had great results too.

Excellent
Acupuncture and Dr. Sheng have changed my life. I have been off the pain medication for the past 7 years. My osteoarthritis in my hands is under control and I can once again open jars. My tendonitis in my feet is gone and my knees are better too. Can't say enough about how she has relieved my pain and given me back the life I once had.
- Olivia Thorne

Excellent
Dr.Sheng is my sensible alternative to surgery. I've been seeing her over the past 20 years for various issues such as carpel tunnel, frozen shoulder, chronic back pain and sciatica. The results are always successful. She is excellent at what she does. I find the treatments very relaxing and usually fall asleep. I strongly recommend her to friends and family. She's the best !!

Migraines

Her migraines were so severe that S.S. was holed up in a dark room for over a month. “These thunderclap headaches were instant and pounding and so severe that I couldn’t move, let alone leave the house or drive my son to school or activities,” recalls the interior designer, whose career, and life, was on hold because of her health. “I had spinal taps and was hospitalized and went to a neurologist who was going to put me on drugs every day for the rest of my life.”

Finally, S.S. exhausted all conventional medical options to stop the debilitating migraines and four years ago, she took her neighbor’s recommendation to consult and treat with Dr. Sheng.  “She told me to get off the meds and gave me an herb mixture and acupuncture and said ‘trust me.’  Within a week and a half my headaches were gone. It was an amazing transformation”

Since then, S.S. says she is migraine-free, “and I’m a believer! It was life changing for me. I tell everyone who will listen about what I went through and how only Dr. Sheng could help me!”

S.S., 48, Wayne

Pain Relief

Both the pastor, T.W., and his wife, A.W. were ailing from pain, with no relief from conventional medicine.

“I had a shoulder injury and my wife had a back problem, and we were both talking to our doctors about surgery,” T.W. says.  But when a friend recommended that the couple have a consultation with Dr. Sheng, they both sought her care before making a decision to have surgery. As a result, they didn’t have to have it.

“She helped me and my wife and we both stopped having severe, chronic pain over time,” T.W. states. ‘And that was about eight years ago. We still see her every now and again and for her tea and herbal patches. I recommend her to at least four or five others and all those persons echo my feelings.

“She’s a wonderful doctor. She has that gift,” the pastor says. “We are so blessed we discovered her.”

Back Pain, Well Being

Thanks to the decades he spent studying martial arts in Chinatown. J.Mc. was no stranger to Chinese medicine. So when he had problems with his back, the kung fu instructor with 42 years under his belt, did not hesitate to contact Dr. Sheng, whom he knew through their children who were classmates.

His back was so painful and wracked with spasms that he could barely walk. “It took me 15 minutes just to go down Dr. Sheng’s steps because I was in such severe pain. But my spasms were gone in an hour of acupuncture,” he says.

“Chinese medicine is ancient and authentic, and Dr. Sheng is its essence and heart of it,” notes, J.Mc.

He continues with the acupuncture and herbology as needed for his continued well being.  “Sometimes I get a treatment for my shoulder or my back, and my son went to Dr. Sheng for a cough, which was gone in one session,” J.Mc. notes. “Dr. Sheng has a real gift for modern times with this ancient form of health care.”

J.Mc., 62, Broomall

Shingles Pain

“I never thought I would go to an acupuncture office,” says J.G, “But the pain of shingles was so severe I was passing out from it.”

The sporting goods manager is in remission from leukemia and remarks that “shingles are worse than chemotherapy, the shooting pains are so debilitating I had to shut down my business.”

His doctor at the University of Pennsylvania suggested that he see Dr. Sheng, “and I really feel like she saved my life. I’ve always thought of it as a hoax, but I am so amazed at results!”

After his second treatment, he stopped getting the shooting pains or passing out. He started seeing Dr. Sheng three times a week, and now once a week. “Even the burning sensation from the shingles is gone. Except for one small patch, there’s no more shooting pain,” he says. “Dr. Sheng is so nice and very comforting. She performed a miracle for me.”

Infertility

As a critical care nurse, H.B. worked long and grueling hours and it was not lost on her that the stressful environment may have contributed to her infertility. For 10 years she saw numerous medical doctors about her condition and underwent fertility treatments to no avail.

Finally a fibroid tumor diagnosis convinced her to find alternative ways to address her health. “I’ve always been a holistic person and I knew I needed a new approach,” she said. Her mother-in-law was Dr. Sheng’s patient, and now, so was H.B.

“She is wonderful! I fell in love with her right away,” H.B. remembers. “Dr. Sheng told me ‘your hormones are off, this is what you need to do.’ So I drank the herb .tea and enjoyed the acupuncture. I thought ‘this is the most relaxing time ever! This is just great!’”

Calling it the “best hour of my week” she was seeing Dr. Sheng for about eighteen months when she found out - with amazement - that she was pregnant.

“After all those years of fertility treatments and disappointment, I didn’t believe it. I thought it was a false positive,” H.B. says. “But after giving up hope of having my own child and looking into adoption and surrogacy, not only was I pregnant but it was a fantastic pregnancy. My miracle baby, Matthew, is here thanks to Dr. Sheng.

“She’s like an old world doctor in modern times who cares about you and the outside world’s influence on your health and your life,” says H.B.  “Dr. Sheng is a model for all other health care professionals. And as a nurse who works in a hospital setting, that’s saying a lot.

“And my three-year-old baby boy is a miracle that says it all!”

H.B., 44, of Springfield

Menopause Syndrome

At first she was skeptical. When her gynecologist recommended that the mother of three (and busy pastoral vocalist) try acupuncture for her peri-menopausal hot flashes and severe PMS, “I didn’t know what to expect and I was apprehensive,” P.F. said.  “But I figured that people wouldn’t be going there if they weren’t getting the gift of healing.”

She became a convert right away. ”I was delighted to find that the comfortable, quiet, relaxing atmosphere is all part of the package,” she said.

“Acupuncture lets your body speak to you, and you heal from within. You learn to take a moment, to breathe, and concentrate on yourself. It’s non-invasive and doesn’t hurt at all.”

She also found out quickly how much it helped. After two or three acupuncture sessions, combined with herbal meds, the hot flashes disappeared and her PMS symptoms had subsided. “Dr. Sheng is very kind and knowledgeable and tailors her treatments for you. I still keep up with the herbs and they don’t interfere with any other regimen.

“I always prefer the natural method of healing and Dr. Sheng combines eastern and western medicine – it’s the best of both worlds,” she said.

Well Being

“One of the things I like about acupuncture and the herbs is that it helps so many things,” says L.P., who has been seeing Dr. Sheng, as needed, for several ailments, as well as well-being treatments for 11 years.

“I’ve had very bad digestive problems and I was seeing a nurse practitioner for anxiety,” says L.P, a former programmer in a high-pressure, stressful logistics job. And then when she quit smoking, she developed energy problems.  “And a low energy person in our high-energy society does affect your life,” L.P. notes. “But for most doctors, that’s a non-issue.”

When she went to see Dr. Sheng for her initial visit, “she looked at me and my tongue and she said, ‘you’re tired.’ She knew right away.”

Dr. Sheng treated her for all of her ailments, as well as shingles and general malaise. “I don’t have a good immune system and I get sick easily, especially under stress. But I found that the herbs keep illness at bay and I stay well when I stay consistent,” L.P. notes. “But if I do get sick, I trust Dr. Sheng. She always knows what’s wrong with me and how to fix it.”

L.P.,  Wayne

Digestive Problem, Sciatica, Bursitis, Auto-Immune Illness, Grief

For over 12 years, K.M., who is owner/operator of an electrolysis business, has been treated by Dr. Sheng for a wide variety of debilitating health problems. “I was in my late 30s and a real mess. I needed help with sciatica and Fibromyalgia symptoms and my psychologist suggested I go to Dr. Sheng,” K.M. remembers.

“I was terrified when I walked in, but I learned very quickly that it helped me,” K.M. says. She sought Dr. Sheng’s help, and her herbs, for a number of health issues, including sciatica, and irritable bowel syndrome.

“The acupuncture really helped my nerve pain and the herbs worked very well for my digestive track issues,” says K.M. “I also went to see her for grieving. I didn’t know if it could help emotionally but over two or three treatments I felt so much better. It was amazing, I could not believe it.  I’m still grieving but I don’t feel the despair.”

K.M., 68, Springfield

Chronic Sinusitis

No matter where she went, L.E. was never without a tissue in hand, or in pocket, for a constantly runny nose. “I had runny nose for years and always taking Zyrtec, but it wasn’t doing me any good,’ L.E. notes. A friend who went to Dr. Sheng for headaches recommended that L.E. treat with her.

“Within a few twice-a-week acupuncture sessions, I didn’t have a runny nose any more. And now at night, I can sleep soundly for the first time in years,” L.E. proclaims. She soon tapered her sessions to once a week, now once a month.

“I love going to see Dr. Sheng. My sessions are very relaxing and I even feel sleepy. And now I don’t have to carry tissues around any more,” says L.E.

L.E., 74, Newtown Square

Asthma

“Dr. Sheng saved my life, I can walk around without pain and oxygen, it’s amazing what acupuncture and herbs can do for you!” J.S. exclaims. With a psoriatic arthritis diagnosis, and an outlook of a lifetime of pain, she was taking chemotherapy medication for months to try to help her condition. But instead, she felt progressively worse.

“My lungs were bad. I had chronic bronchitis, it was like I was crippled,” J.S. says. “I saw a lung specialist, and then another rheumatologist, but I was always short of breath and on oxygen. Sometimes my pain was worse than giving birth.”

Her blood sugar shot up dangerously as a result of taking a cortisone medication and she said she felt like “I had arthritis in every bone.” A friend suggested that she see Dr. Sheng and. “within one week I was so much better!” J.S. explains. “I had twice weekly visits at first and cut back to weekly and currently bi-monthly. I’m not stiff anymore in the morning. It’s a dramatic change.

“Now I realize that the natural way is the way to go. Plus you have to be your own advocate and make good choices for your health,” says J.S., a mortgage underwriter who is back to work because of Chinese medicine and Dr. Sheng.

J S., 68, Secane

Acid Reflux

As a medical doctor, A.M. is well-schooled in conventional medicine but she always “firmly believed in Chinese medicine,” she says. “I figured herbs have

She had become allergic to several medications and couldn’t take anything that her physicians prescribed for the ailment. So she asked them to suggest a Chinese doctor who could treat her with herbs.

“I’m early into my treatments with Dr. Sheng and whatever she says, I will do. I wasn’t expecting acupuncture, but I know it’s going to help,” A.M. states. “I can’t be helped with western medicine, so I’m not giving up and I’m prepared for it to take a while.”

And she already had some personal support.  “When I was filling out the first-time paperwork, other patients in the waiting room were so encouraging. They all speak so highly of Dr. Sheng and appreciate what she does.”

A.M., Philadelphia

Eczema

After years of conventional medical treatment for severe and chronic eczema, D.F. was frustrated and he had to admit to himself that his condition wasn’t improving. He learned about Dr. Sheng’s work through a friend’s recommendation and decided to visit her “as a last resort.”

Within a couple of months of acupuncture and herbs, his skin condition improved significantly and he was enjoying the sessions he once was cynical about.

During his treatments, he says, “I sleep the whole time, and that’s amazing for the guy who didn’t want to go in the first place, let alone take herbs twice a day. I stay with it because I know it’s working when nothing else could.”

Disabled from Legionnaire’s Disease

Bedridden by pain and dizziness from never fully recovering from Legionnaire’s Disease and an infected heart from the virus, M.C. had to leave her job as a contract specialist and go on disability. She subsequently needed heart surgery and became further disabled by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so severe that she was in bed all day, every day.

“I was completely incapacitated,” M.C. remembers. “I couldn’t drive and was housebound, unless someone took me out somewhere, like to the doctors, and that was rare.”

When a friend, who was seeing Dr. Sheng for migraines, recommended her, M.C. was very doubtful that anyone - or anything - could help her. “But when I learned that the Penn New Bolton Center does acupuncture on race horses, that’s what convinced me,” M.C. says.

The results of her first visits were life-changing. “Within three treatments, I felt seventy-five percent better,” M.C. states. “It lifted my fatigue to a manageable level and slowed down my heart rate. It was amazing!”

She’s been seeing Dr. Sheng for almost 15 years now. “And I know if I hadn’t met her, I would not have left the house for 15 years,” M.C. says. “I still see her regularly to try and keep ahead of the symptoms. Consistency is very important in a chronic situation,.”

“It’s the best thing I ever did for my health - for my life! I’m so grateful”

M.C., 59, Ridley Park
